Jo Bain - Artist

New Zealand

"Sacred Trees" is about Noticing the Beauty around us and cherishing this wonderful land. The wonderful memories of childhood playing under pohutakawas at the beach, enjoying a picnic under one, the family climbing them, a beautiful ancient tree watching over a graveyard.

The Trees have been here before us. They have so much history. They have seen so much. The grove of Pohutakawas at wenderholm regional park is the largest in NZ and are in recorded history in 1600.

My message is to appreciate our beautiful fragile environment and to take the time to be still ... to be one with nature. I seek out the seasons. I attempt to paint the ebb and flow of the tides - the morning light into day into night.
